Chapter 2: He's Getting Married

The wedding hadn't even began when Caroline arrived, but she just had to witness a romantic stage
filled with flowers.

There was a heavy pang in her chest, but no matter what, she could never do anything about it.She
had already understood that her current identity was no longer comparable to his.Her love for him
would have to be disregarded as well.

Right now, she only wanted to save her only relative.

But just as she was about to look for Aldrich, a large hand grabbed her arm and pulled her in a room.

"Didn't I tell not to look for me?"

Aldrich growled, his eyes glaring daggers at her.

"Is it because I didn't give you enough money yesterday?"

"Aldrich, I—"

Caroline's heart actually wanted to complain.She wanted to tell him she was suffering, but she
couldn't.Her main goal today was different.

Although she felt as though she was stepping on the last shred of dignity she had for herself, she still
hardened her expression and said, "Yes, I came to borrow money from you."

Aldrich's seemed as though he expected her reply and only sneered, "How much do you want this
time?"

"One million."

Caroline bit her tongue and swallowed the bile in her throat.



She felt disgusted with herself, but what else could she possibly do? Yesterday, she had asked the
doctor again.

The doctor said that Charlene's follow-up treatment was estimated to cost more than 900,000 dollars.

"Caroline, who do you really think you are?"

Aldrich shook her off and turned around.

Caroline was surprised he didn't do anything else, but her heart skipped a beat upon realizing he
wouldn't give her anything.

"Aldrich, please!" she immediately yelled and gripped his coat.

"Please lend me the money.I really need it to save my sister ...I will definitely think of a way to return it
to you in the future!"

"Think of a way?" Aldrich repeated, feigning shock.

"Do you still want to lie under another man and use the money they gave you to return it to me?"

Aldrich was disgusted, but he couldn't help the sudden burst of anger in his heart.

For some reason, he felt a bit of pain inside.His hands moved on their own and immediately pinned
Caroline up against the wall.

Anxious, Caroline hurriedly struggled.

"Aldrich, don't be like this.You're getting married today, we can't .." Aldrich snorted.

"Didn't you ask for money? Then serve me.Maybe I'll give it to you!"



At this moment, there was a knock on the door behind him, but they hadn't even reacted when it
bursted open.

A woman in a wedding dress rushed in, but stopped when she realized what was happening.

"You—" she exclaimed, and tears immediately gushed out of her eyes.

"Aldrich, how can you .." Aldrich's expression changed.

He pushed Caroline away and quickly tidied up his clothes.

"I'm sorry! If you love me, please listen to my explanation—"

"I know.She must have seduced you, right?"

Riane pointed her finger and quickly walked up to Caroline to slap her face.

"Bitch!"

Everything went by in a blur that Caroline had no time to react.She had fallen down the ground
because of the strong impact, but she only blinked as she looked up.Her eyes grew wide when the
appearance of the woman in wedding dress processed in her mind.

"Riane?" she asked.

Riane was an orphan adopted by the Nigel family.She was gentle and generous at home, causing her
adoptive parents to like her very much.

Caroline's love for Riane could not be better.

Whatever she and her sister had, they would definitely give her a share.



However, when the Nigel family had been in a crisis.

Riane's personality changed.She just left.She didn't even go to the funeral of her adoptive parents.

Caroline didn't bother reaching out.

Although she felt betrayed, she did understand that Riane might have wanted to live a better life.She
just didn't expect that she was actually Aldrich’s bride!

"Caroline, how did you end up like this?"

Riane looked at Caroline sadly.

"You are the eldest daughter of the Nigel family.How could you have stooped so low as to become a
mistress? How can you face our parents like this?"

At the mention of her parents, Caroline recovered and got up from the ground, looked at her former
sister, and sarcastically said, "Oh dear sister, how can you be shameless as to still call them your
parents?"

"Why isn't she qualified?" Aldrich interjected.

"Riane had worked so hard to pay for uncle and aunt's funeral expenses while all you thought about
was climbing up the social ladder!"
