Chapter 6: Taste of Despair

Caroline stared at her phone for a moment.She didn't move an inch after seeing the pictures on her
sister's phone.

But, the intention of the message was clear.Her sister, Charlene, had been manipulated by someone
she knew, and she wouldn't let it pass.

Of course, it was an unknown number, but she didn't even need to think about it to know who the
sender was.

Caroline gritted her teeth as she spoke, "Riane""

Her scarlet eyes were filled with anger.

Even the grip on her phone tightened in hatred.

‘No, it wasn't just her.How could Riane have these photos without Aldrich’s permission?’ Caroline
shook her head in disbelief and rushed over to leave the hospital.

Once Charlene knew what she was doing, she would definitely go to Aldrich's villa to look for her and
stop her right away.

Therefore, it was very likely that her sister was there.

At this time, Caroline didn't care about anything else for the sake of her sister.

Charlene wasn't in good shape, and she must hurry to bring her back to her ward for recovery.

So, as soon as she took a taxi, she directly asked the driver to go to Stanley's villa as quickly as
possible.

Finally, the driver could no longer refuse and began to drive away.



Unfortunately, it began to rain heavily.

The driver drove a little slowly because of his poor vision at night.

But when they reached the vicinity of the villa area, they started to get stuck in the traffic.

Caroline couldn't wait any longer since it wasn't that long to reach Aldrich’s villa.

Because of that, she hurriedly paid the driver and opened the car door to run out in the middle of the
traffic.

Along the way, she walked under the street lamps only to discover that the crowd surrounding the side
of the road resulted in the delay of transportation.

The sound of a police siren could also be heard throughout the place.It seemed like an accident had
happened there.

Caroline was confused and feeling uncomfortable at the same time.

As if someone was telling her to visit the crowd.

And because of that anxious feeling, she tried to excuse herself to find out what was going on.

But as soon as she saw the view of the scene, Caroline's brain suddenly buzzed.She held her breath
as her entire body trembled in shock.

The place wasn't that long from Stanley's villa yet; she definitely knew what she saw.She rushed over
the scene without hesitation.

The rain drenched her thoroughly.She stepped on the stagnant water and ran over there.She pushed
aside the crowd until she saw a familiar slender figure lying on the ground.



Caroline felt as if her heart had been stabbed hundreds of times after confirming who it was.

Her eyes widened in shock.

"Charlene!" Her voice was trembling and sharp in the middle of a rainy night where the place was biting
cold.

On the ground, Charlene remained motionless and unconscious.

Her wet hair covered her cheeks, and her face initially looked pale.Her soaked body caused her skin to
turn even grayer.

Just as Caroline was about to reach out for her sister, a policeman immediately stopped her and asked,
"Miss, are you the family of the deceased person?"

Caroline suddenly turned around, and her eyes filled with panic.

"What do you mean by deceased?" Caroline asked with a trace of confusion in her eyes.

"We already received a report.When we rushed over, we discovered that this young lady was laying on
the ground.Pale and unconscious after confirming her death” The policeman said.

"If you are her family, please follow us to make a statement."

But, she didn't seem to believe what she had heard.

"My sister isn't dead and I will take her to the hospital!"

The policeman refused, "I know, this is hard for you but Miss, she's not breathing anymore’ Caroline
insisted, "She's not going to die! Her alveoli ruptured that is why she cannot breathe properly.She'll be
fine if she takes to the hospital!"



Caroline seemed to be trying to grab the last hope she had.She took out her phone and dialed the 911
hotline.

"Doctor, I'm at the entrance of the city villa.My sister fainted here.Please come and save her!"

At the end of her sentence, she knelt on the ground with tears rolling down her cheeks.

Her face filled with helplessness and regret.

The policeman sighed when he saw her in pain.

It was given that she couldn't accept the fact that her sister was dead, so he did not urge her any
further.

Instead, he patiently waited for 911 to come.

The ambulance arrived nearby.

Because of the traffic jam, the doctor came on foot.

After examining Charlene's condition and checking her pulse, the doctor shook his head after heaving
a sigh, "There's nothing I can do about this, Ms.Nigel.Condolences.Your sister has passed away for
more than half an hour.She didn't make it."

Hearing that made Caroline fell to the ground.

"No.That's not true"

She refused to believe as she slowly bent down to help her unconscious sister to get up.

"She isn't dead!"



Caroline hugged Charlene tightly in her arms, not letting her go.

"Sister, don't leave me.You're the only one I have.Can you not leave me?"

Then, she cried desperately, "Will you accompany me, please?"
