Chapter 30: Happy Ending

Augustus looked at his children and felt as if an invisible force had melted his heart.He squatted down
and tried to sound gentle and affectionate, "Charles, Corinne, can you let Dad hug you?"

While Charles hesitated, Corinne jumped over Augustus and asked, "Dad, what do penguins look like?
Do they bite?"

Augustus couldn't help but smile because of how innocent his daughter's question was.

He held her shoulders gently and replied, "Do you want to see the penguins, Corinne? Shall we go to
the aquarium tomorrow?"

Corinne's expression immediately lightened when she heard what her dad said.She had never been to
the aquarium before.Her mom only took them to the museum where there weren't many animals.

"Alright, alright!" Corinne replied happily.

Tears were still visible in her eyes but there's a curve on her lips already.

Augustus turned to Charles and asked, "Should we take you and your sister to the aquarium tomorrow,
son?"

Charles thought for a moment but he eventually nodded and said, "Alright."

That night, Caroline couldn't sleep at all.She still couldn't believe that he came back.

Caroline had been patiently waiting for her prayers to be answered for the past three years.

‘Everything seemed too good to be true.I'm afraid that this was only a dream and Augustus would be
gone once I woke up”

"Caroline."



He softly said as he held her in his arms, sniffed her scent, and his warm lips landed on hers.

"It's been three years."

She gently caressed his face while her hands trembled.

"Are you fine now? Are you completely healed from your illness?"

He nodded as he held his hand and put a ring on her finger.

Caroline was surprised.Her eyes quickly watered as she covered her mouth with her right hand.

"Caroline, from now on, our family of four will never separate again.Let's get married on Monday”

On a Saturday morning, Caroline and Augustus held hands and walked into the Ocean Museum with
Charles and Corinne in their arms.

They immediately drew the attention of many people because of their excellent appearance and lovely
children.

Aldrich’s life, on the other hand, completely flipped upside down.

His investment failed recently which left his mother in a difficult situation.

Aldrich was even diagnosed with extreme fatigue.

Because he had been overworked, the doctor had advised him to relax and take a rest in the
meantime.

His doctor also mentioned that if he wouldn't rest, he could die.

"It would be good for you to visit the aquarium this weekend and relax." The doctor suggested.



Aldrich was alarmed about his health, so he obeyed his doctor and went to the aquarium.

At the aquarium, Aldrich happened to see a family of four which troubled his heart.

He suddenly remembered how well he and Caroline had gotten along in the past.

They were so happy at that time; So in love with each other to the extent that they thought they would
stay like that for the rest of their lives.

Unfortunately, everything had changed because of the misunderstanding in the blink of an eye.

He had seen and approached her countless times for three years but Caroline always refused to have
a conversation.

He didn't expect her to be hired as CEO by a big company like Windsor's corporation.

He wanted to talk to her alone several times but he just kept on being rejected.

At this time, a soft voice of a child lingered in his ears.

"Dad, hold me up! I want to say hello to the penguins!"

As he heard that, his eyes widened, and he was utterly stunned.

Only then did he figure that the family that he had been staring at was Caroline's.

Aldrich saw how happy Caroline was as she spoke with a handsome man.

She was carrying a boy and beside her was a man with a little girl in his shoulders.

Caroline seemed to sense something, so she turned around and saw Aldrich not far away.



She only took a glance and then turned her gaze away.

Caroline turned to Charles and asked, "Honey, can you see the penguins clearly? If not, why don't you
ride on your father's shoulder and greet them?"

As Corinne heard that, she smiled and nodded brightly to her brother and said, "Big brother, ride on
Dad's shoulder! You're too heavy for Mom to carry”

Augustus and Caroline exchanged smiles as they heard Corinne.

When Aldrich saw how sweet Caroline and her family were, the brightness in his eyes dimmed
instantaneously.He had just witnessed something he had fantasized about in the past.

Regrettably, his wish now became an absurd thought.Aldrich couldn't do anything but stare at the
happy family until they were out of his sight.
