Chapter 9: The Baby Was Born

A year later.

"Miss, try harder!"

"The head is coming out!"

"Alright, come out, come out!"

"It's a boy!"

Busy sounds were coming and going in and out of the room.

Caroline lay weakly on the bed after giving birth to her child.Her gaze was turning towards the child in
the doctor's hand.

"My baby!" Her voice was soft and happy.

But her body was soaked in sweat.

The doctor carried the child over and showed him to her.

Caroline's lips instantly curled into a smile.

Still, she couldn't forget that she had lost her younger sister.

In the past year, she hadn't ever seen the true face of the mysterious owner of the pawnshop.

However, she had a baby with him who was related to him by blood.

"Can you let me give him a hug?" She asked softly.



The doctor shook his head and said, "We still need to find out if the baby is healthy.We'll talk about it
after your baby has been washed and presented to his father.The excitement in her eyes suddenly
faded away after she heard the doctor speak, "Ah, right."

She knew that even giving birth to a baby was part of their deal, so she didn't have any qualifications to
hold the baby at all.So she closed her eyes and took a nap instead.

But when Caroline woke up again, she was already in a separate ward.

Her maid, Marisa, saw her get up, so she immediately handed her a bowl of porridge.

"Miss, are you hungry? Please, have something to eat." The maid politely offered.

Caroline was indeed hungry.She leaned against the bed and started eating.Then she asked, "Where is
the baby?"

"The baby is with his father.Don't worry, Miss.You are the mother of the baby.You'll see him soon and
you still need to breastfeed your baby." Marisa said.

Her maid had a point, but she didn’t want to stay at the hospital.It was so quiet and too private.

Even for once, she wanted to see the light outside to encourage herself.

Whether having a baby was only a part of the deal, she still had the right to embrace her child.

"Can I be discharged now?" Caroline asked.

"I want to see the baby."

"Yes, but you have to wait.Sir said that you can leave tomorrow" Marisa said.

The next day, As Caroline returned to the villa, Marisa came over with the child in her arms.



"Miss, the child may be hungry.Would you like to feed him?"

"Sure!" Caroline nodded and took the baby right away.

Her eyes were finally filled with longing and happiness.

That year, with the help of that mysterious man, she completely gathered evidence one by one.

Now that the evidence in her hands was enough to bring Riane and Aldrich to justice, she wouldn't
waste the chance.However, just to be sure, she still needed the most crucial video to put them down.

‘How?’ she asked herself.

Caroline got carried away.

The baby in her arms appeared to have been sucking for a while, but he could not extract any milk.He
immediately became upset and started to cry.

"Oh baby.Mommy is sorry!"

Caroline gently patted her child's back to calm him down and continued to try feeding him.Her heart
was filled with joy as she was staring at him.She lowered her head and kissed the baby's tender
forehead.

Caroline worked hard in her spare time that day to learn new things.

She had assumed that once the baby was separated from her, her relationship with that mysterious
man would be over.

So as soon as possible, she needed to settle down her business in this world.



One of them was to bring Aldrich and her sister Riane down.

But, she wasn't confident if the man would agree to raise the baby with her.

Her parents and younger sister died, but now that she had a child, she planned to live a happy life after
avenging her sister.

Another half a year passed in a flash.

A City Court officially held a public trial on Charlene's death more than a year ago.

Caroline, dressed in a black business suit, appeared in the plaintiff's stand.

Aldrich and Riane were on the defendant's stand.

The current Riane had already become a leading star, so many media reporters had also come to
compete for the headlines on the day of the trial.

But as soon as Caroline sat down, Aldrich's gaze suddenly turned over, staring at her.
