Chapter 23: Can't Bear to Part with You

The room was very quiet.They were sitting beside each other in bed, but neither of them spoke.They
were listening to the song quietly.The playlist ran out of songs and went back to the first one again.

Caroline continued listening.She started to speak to him, "The music is good, don't you think?"

However, the man beside him was already sleeping.

Caroline had actually noticed already that in the past six months, she neglected her relationship with
him.She noticed that he had started becoming cold as time went by.

At this moment, Caroline suddenly felt heaviness in her heart.

When she was at her lowest point, in pain and despair because of her own hatred, it was him who gave
her the strength to feel better about life again.

Even though their marriage was only arranged, they were still human beings, they have hearts.

He meant something to Caroline, considering the 400 days and nights they were together.

"Hey..." She called out softly to make sure that he was really asleep.

He was.

So she carefully helped him to lie down.

It should be ten o'clock now.

Caroline went to the bathroom and looked at the baby when she came out.

The servant said that the baby was still sleeping soundly.



She nodded and went back to the bedroom.She laid down and covered herself with the blanket.She
remained awake because she couldn't sleep at all.

As she approached the man beside her, she reached out and held his hand.She couldn't identify what
she was feeling.

Caroline had lost her father, mother, and sister.

Now, she's also feeling like she was about to lose him too.

They had experiences too.

She didn't want to lose him.She tightened her grip on the man’s hand and whispered, "At first, I didn't
know your name nor what you look like.He was sleeping so no one answered her.

"Actually, I was scared of you at first, but then at time went by, I saw you were actually very good
person.I feel like our deal doesn't even matter.I know it's about to be over but you know, you still felt like
family to me...You don't have any relatives, do you? At least I haven't seen them for half a year...Will
you be lonely? Will you feel uncomfortable when you're alone?"

She almost only spoke to herself.

Little did Caroline know, he was awake since the time she laid him down.

Although he was still a little confused, he could clearly hear Caroline's words.

However, he did not move, nor did he respond.He just waited quietly, wanting to hear what she wanted
to say.

"Me, I would feel lonely.I only had my sister back then, and she left.I felt like I had no other purpose
other than that revenge, and now, it's almost ending.Even though Aldrich is alive, I bet he wouldn't be



happy and it would be also because of his own selfishness..."

She didn't talk for a minute.

"And I also thought I was free, but our baby was born.I can't bear to part with the baby.I want to see
him grow up, help him with his studies, and see him get married and have children in the future.I want
to watch him grow up with you ..."

At this point, Caroline suddenly couldn't continue.

She sighed faintly, "I can't bear to part with you either"

Beside him, the man's breathing suddenly became heavier for a moment.
