Chapter 1204

Sherry grimaced irritably before approaching John.

John remained seated gracefully on his throne and looked at her like a monarch toying
with its subjects.

Shannon remained seated as well
with an unchanging expression although the look in her eyes seemed to have dimmed a little.

Sherry walked mechanically. She hardly spared so
much as a glance at both of them the entire time. She approached the table with a pot of tea
in her hand and poured its contents into a teacup, then she took the cup and handed it to John.

He took the cup and seemed to intentionally brush his fingers against the back of Sherry‘s hands.

Sherry grimaced and shot a look at him, but he smirked coyly and proceeded to sip his tea candidly.

She rolled her eyes and silently muttered curses at this detestable man!

Meanwhile, Shannon, who was sitting right there the entire time, was watching their interaction and cle
nched

her hands into fists.

That was when John suddenly looked at her.

Shannon quickly formed the same practiced smile that was full of warmth and tenderness.

John asked her, “Did you go to the event my mother held this afternoon?”



Shannon answered, “I did. I attended to the guests along with Julie. Everything
proceeded very smoothly, and the guests were very delighted to be invited.”

John nodded.

That was when Celine entered with a cart filled with food.

Sherry darted a look at her.

Celine gave her a glance and signaled for her to help with setting the food on the table.

Sherry was more than glad to do so since this was a chance for her to get away from John.

It was a very scrumptious dinner with a wide variety of food; there were seven dishes in total.

Sherry gulped as she set the food on the table.

Once everything was ready, John and Shannon approached the dining table and sat down.

Sherry and Celine quickly moved to the side.

The couple assumed
their seats and began to eat with a degree of formality. They had a rather silent meal.

After some time, Shannon broke the silence and asked, ” John, do you have any
other plans for the night?”

She looked at him eagerly as she said this.

John shot her a look. “There are some things I need to deal
with. I‘ll be leaving after this, so make sure you get some good rest.”



The light in Shannon‘s eyes flickered and dissipated, but all she could do was mumble a short ‘okay‘.

They finished their meal shortly after that.

John gave Sherry a look as he put down the cutlery, then he rose and walked towards the study.

He was signaling for Sherry to follow him.

However, Sherry pretended to be oblivious to his signal.

“Sherry?” That was when John halted his steps and called

her.

Left without a choice, she had to follow him to the study.

Meanwhile, Shannon was left by herself at the dining table
with a dark and sullen expression on her face.

Upon entering the study, Sherry was instructed to bring John certain books. She did as she was told.

Then, he wanted water.

Sherry poured him a glass of water.

Then, he wanted the windows closed and the curtains drawn, and Sherry did everything obediently.

She continued to serve him by performing minor tasks consecutively.



Meanwhile, he sat languidly in a chair with a book in one hand while observing her. He seemed
to be thinking about what other menial tasks she could have him do.

Sherry took a deep breath, “Master Stockton , you seem like you have a lot of time on your hands, don‘t

John smirked coyly.
