The driver quickly stopped the car.

John carried Caprice out of the car and went straight into the hotel.

John’s eyes darkened, and he said, “Maybe she went out because there was something urgent.”

“Will she come back?”

John narrowed his eyes. “Her stuff is all here. She’ll be back.”

Two blocks away from that hotel was a five–star hotel.

The door and the windows were closed, and the warm air was quiet.

There was only the sound of Sherry typing on the keyboard. She was sitting in front of her desk,
working. She brought forward all the matters that she had to accomplish in the next month.

Only by busying herself would she stop thinking about Caprice and the cold and contemptuous faces of
that man and those people.

Knock knock.

A knock sounded abruptly at the door.

“Come in.” Sherry faced the computer screen and continued to work.

A tall figure came behind her and cast a shadow over her.

Sherry turned around to look.
