Freya could sense Kenneth’s disdain toward Caprice. Always the loyal friend, she backed Caprice up,
“That’s right. I managed to get two spots for me and Caprice two days ago. We don’t need your help to
get inside.”
Upon hearing this, Kenneth and Jonathan turned white, they felt called out.
Moses expressed regretfully, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. I was just asking out of curiosity. I
happen to know someone who works inside, so I figured I could help you girls out if you haven’t
secured a spot yet.”
“I know you didn’t mean it like that, but I think some of you here don’t feel the same way,” Freya hinted
not-so-subtly.
Caprice gently nudged her to signal her to stop being so confrontative with Jonathan and Kenneth.
It was too late. Kenneth immediately scoffed upon hearing her remark. “It must have been pretty
expensive. I believe the scalper price goes for around five thousand. You sure are splurging for the
occasion.”
Freya refused to back down. “So what if it’s five thousand? I’d be willing to buy it even if it costs fifty
thousand!”
Kenneth mused sarcastically, “You sure are pretty rich for a university student. I wonder where you get
your money from.”
Caprice frowned and tried again to pull Freya away.
It seemed like Kenneth had successfully provoked her.
The situation quickly devolved out of control as Freya roared at Kenneth, “I bought it with the money I
earned myself!”
Kenneth was visibly jolted by her sudden aggression. A wipe of a condescending smile appeared on
his face again. “What kind of job possibly pays that much? Would you tell me about your job?”
Freya took the bait again. “You- What makes you think that I’d tell you?!”
Kenneth could no longer stand for being disrespected by someone he considered to be a snot- nosed
brat. He immediately shot up like an arrow.
Caprice was alarmed by this and quickly stepped in front of Freya.
Moses stepped between Kenneth and Freya to mediate the situation. “Kenneth, Freya, I’m going to
need you two to calm down!”
“Moses, we’ll be going for now. It doesn’t seem like Kenneth is very fond of us,” Caprice remarked
sharply, then she led Freya by the hand and walked away.
They were gone in an instant. Moses barely had time to stop them. He frowned, then he turned sharply
to Kenneth. “Kenneth, they are just university students. Why are you being so mean to them?”
A flash of unruly anger appeared in his eyes. “It’s that Freya brat who started it.” the woods where there
were fewer people crowded around.
Moses and his group must have been waiting at this spot previously. When Caprice and Freya got
there, they noticed a bunch of bags strewn over the field of grass.
Kenneth rummaged in his bag and found his camera. He then threw its straps around his neck.
He looked at the entrance of Carter Tech City with excitement beaming in his. eyes.
Jonathan had a selfie stick ready as well.
Moses turned to Caprice. “Caprice, are you on the guest list?”
The moment he raised the question, Kenneth and Jonathan turned to him with a sudden jerk.
Kenneth stated crossly, “Moses, we only have four spots, and there are four of us already. Even if you
want to bring Caprice into the city, we don’t have any extra spots for her.”
Jonathan shot a look at Caprice and echoed the same sentiment, “That’s right. We’re full.”
The other person who was with them stayed silent the entire time.
Moses frowned.
Before he could respond, Caprice clarified, “We’re on the guest list as well. Freya managed to snag a
spot from a reseller.”
Moses explained, “That’s because you assumed right off the bat that they were trying to take your
spots. It’s not surprising that they would get defensive when they sensed your hostility.”
Kenneth scowled.
Jonathan spoke up, “Moses, we wouldn’t pick on those kids for no reason. Why don’t you look around
you? Do you see anyone like those two around here? Look at the way they’re dressed, it looks like they
were looking for attention and trying to seduce some rich guy.”
Moses stated in a grave voice, “Caprice is not the kind of person you think she is.”
Jonathan sneered, “Heh… She’s covered from head to toe in counterfeit name brands. She looks
just like that sort of person if you ask me.”
Moses frowned.
Counterfeit name brands? Those were counterfeits?
“Maybe she doesn’t know they are counterfeits.”
Jonathan sneered, “Whatever you say.”
He continued to fiddle with his selfie stick.
Kenneth went up to Moses and patted him on the shoulder. “Moses, you’d better stop wasting time on
her. There’s nothing special about her.”
“Stop that!” Moses had to restrain himself. that she’s the one who managed to find us an investor.”
Kenneth did not sound convinced. “That says more about our product than about her abilities. All she
did was just forward our details to a couple of investors. It was the investors who made the call at the
end of the day. Besides, you’ve already returned the favor by giving her a job, but she ended up
squandering it anyway.”
The other colleague who came with them chimed in, “Mr. Kenneth makes a good point. You offered her
a good salary for a pretty easy position, and she only lasted one day. You can’t say that we were the
ones at fault.”
