Chapter 1226 Julie sighed. “With that feisty attitude of hers, she would have caused a scene in front of
John if she didn’t get the pills.”

The sudden epiphany rushed into Emerence’s head. She added, “Ms. Julie, you are really a meticulous
person. It is the Stockton family’s honor to have you in charge of the house.”

Julie smiled. “Aunt Emerence, please don’t flatter me. I’m just glad that I can share the burden with
Mother and John.”

Emerence was moved by Julie’s caring and sentimental side. “If only you were Master John’s wife, the
Stocktons would have thrived in harmony and peace.”

Julie’s gaze shifted. She wore a strict expression and said,

“Nonsense. John has a family now, and I’m his sister-in – law.”

Emerence immediately realized that she had used the wrong words at the wrong time. She immediately
apologized, “I’m sorry, Ms. Julie. I didn’t mean it. I’m just moved by your personality and capabilities.
No one can better take charge of the house than you.”

Julie’s gaze softened, and so did her tone. “Aunt Emerence, I’m telling you this because I treat you as
one

of my own. I’ll pretend that I didn’t hear anything today, so please refrain from saying something like
that again in the future, especially not in front of anyone. Do you understand?”

Emerence sighed a breath of relief. “I understand, Ms. Julie! I promise I won’t say something like that
again!”



Julie smiled. “You can go back to your work now. Keep an eye on Sherry. If she has any other requests,
try to satisfy her.”

She left after that.

Seeing her off, Emerence grumbled in her heart, ‘It has almost been six years now since the second
master passed away. I remember they were newlyweds when that happened. Given his medical
condition, I believe they hadn’t even made love yet, and she became widowed. She’s still so young. Is
she going to be a widow for the rest of her life?

‘Was it because she couldn’t bear letting go of the title? If she really wished to continue to be Mrs.
Stockton , why didn’t she go after Master John?’

Meanwhile, at Shannon’s place, after knowing that John had spent the night with Sherry at the
employee’s dorm,

Shannon angrily smashed the vase on the floor. It had been two days since he left that afternoon, and
he did not come home for her once. Now that he came back, he went straight to Sherry, slept with her,
and left without saying anything. The man had no space for her in his heart!

The more Shannon thought about it, the more furious she got. She smashed a couple more things on
the ground, and with it, her gentle and caring demeanor.

What was left on her face was ferocity and resentment.” Bitch! That bitch!”

Celine stood further away without making a noise. She waited until Shannon calmed down slightly
before she said, “Madam , please calm down. You’re going to hurt yourself.”

Shannon shouted at her, “I’m not stupid! Get out of my face!”



Celine immediately ran outside.

Shannon took a deep breath before she collapsed on the couch.

In the past two days that she spent at home, not only Madam Stockton and Julie, but even the maids
looked at her differently. Some of them even despised her for her fake personality. Her gentle and
caring side was nothing but a front.

If this continued , more and more people would believe that she was faking it all the time and
disrespect would follow.

She could not allow this to continue. She must think of a way to make Sherry disappear.

Back at the Carters’ residence in Westchester, Sylvia came out of Madam Carter’s room. Maybe
because of Madam Carter’s age or maybe it was the trauma from the fall, she started to forget things
starting about a week ago. She would even forget herself at times.

It was just an hour ago when she tried to go out of the house herself, looking for her grandson. She
was worried that the stepmother would bully her grandson, so she got anxious.

Fortunately, the bodyguards were there to stop her.

Sylvia and Aunt Tonya brought her back and explained the situation to her. They even video-called
Odell, who was working outside, just to calm her down.

It took them quite the effort, but Madam Carter eventually regained her awareness.
