Chapter 1658

An awkward silence engulfed the table.

Ron and Anne seemed to have become highly uncomfortable with what had been said, and the others
did not seem much better either; take Madam Sager, for example.

She frowned so hard that her wrinkles surfaced on her face like crumpled paper. She scoffed sharply,
pushed the tableware aside, and declared rather stoutly, “I’m full.”

Anne quickly went up to her. “Come on, I’ll take you home.”

That was when Ada suddenly approached with a glass of wine of her own.

She raised the glass in Madam Sager’s direction and exclaimed brightly with a delightful smile,
“Grandma, let me toast to you as well. I wish you great joy, and may all of your heart’s desires be
fulfilled. Live a long and healthy life!”

She brushed past Sherry as she gave the toast, and the glass suddenly tipped over in her hands and
spilled its entire contents on Sherry’s left arm.

The sleeves of Sherry’s shirt were drenched in an instant. The fabric clung to her skin and jolted her
with a cold spark.

“Oh no, I’m

sorry. It was an accident! Here, let me wipe it for you,” Ada said hastily.

Sherry wanted to do it herself, but before she could react, Ada was already all over her and tugged the
sleeves of her shirt upward.

With a vigorous pull, her sleeves were yanked upward to reveal the hideous scar imprinted

on her arm.

Ada immediately shrieked.

Anne cried out in shock as well, “What the hell is that?!”

Madam Sager seemed utterly disgusted by what she saw.

Everyone around the table reacted with equal disgust. They were immediately repulsed by Sherry’s
presence.

The collective shock sucked the air out of the room.

Sherry immediately pulled her arm away from Ada.

Ada paid no attention whatsoever to Sherry’s repulsion and asked, “Miss Sherry, what’s with that horrid
scar on your arm?”

Sherry turned pale in an instant. She knew that Ada had spilled the wine on her on purpose. She must
have caught a glimpse of the scar on her arm back in the toilet and intentionally set her up to
embarrass her in public.

Although Sherry cared little what the Sagers thought of her, she could not deny that the scar was a vile
mark of the trauma she had suffered and that it evoked sour memories.

Everyone around her, even the people seated at adjacent tables were stealing looks at her, gawking at
her scar, and murmuring among themselves. The unwanted attention made her feel extremely self-
conscious.

She steeled herself and answered sharply, “It’s from an accident.”

Ada remarked with a hint of a smile, “You must have been too careless. Now, you have a giant ugly
scar on your arm that will follow you around for the rest of your life.”

She suddenly turned to Carl and asked, “Carl, don’t you feel the same way?”

Carl glared at her, gone were his usual easy-going charms. He snapped sharply and without any sense
of refrain, “Why are you acting all friendly with me? Do I even know you?”

Ada was horrified by this.

A stiff silence overtook the table.

Ron spoke up, “Carl, she is my niece, Ada Wright. You’ve met her before. Have you forgotten?”

Carl laughed and mocked her, “Ah, so she’s your niece. That explains why she’s so ugly.”

Ron was struck speechless.

Ada’s reaction was not any better either. All the color was drained from her face, and she looked like
she was about to cry.

Carl continued to mock her relentlessly, “I can’t believe you have the guts to mock Sherry of all people
with a face like that. Where did you get the confidence from? From your uncle?”

This broke Ada, and she burst out crying and quickly ran out of the banquet hall with her hands
covering her face from shame.

By this point, there was not so much as a whisper in the banquet hall. Everyone was silent.

Ron and Anne seemed distraught, and Madam Sager was seething with fury by this point.

Anne suddenly snickered, her voice echoing through the hall.

Lisa took control of the situation and turned to Carl. “Carl, Sherry doesn’t seem to be doing too well,
why don’t you take her and leave? You two are finished eating anyway.”

Carl nodded and promptly took Sherry’s hand. They were out of the banquet hall in no time.

Anne suddenly piped up and turned to Lisa, “Lisa, they haven’t even finished toasting to Mom yet.”
