Chapter 1353 He still sounded grumpy, but it was obvious that he wanted her to return. “I don‘t want to
see Shermaine again. Fire her and I‘ll come back,” she said.

“I‘ve transferred here somewhere else. You won‘t see her again.”

“I don‘t want you to transfer her. I want her out of Carter Corporation,” Sylvia
said with clenched teeth. She added, “I know she saved Grandmother before, and if you think you owe
it to her, give her some money, or refer her to work somewhere else.”

The call went silent all of a sudden.

Thoughts were running through the man‘s mind as he remained quiet for a while.

Sylvia‘s expression turned cold. “Odell, if you have nothing else to say, that‘s it.”

He remained silent, so she hung up the phone.

Back at the Carters‘ residence in Westchester, the man‘s towering figure stood outside the front yard. H
e stared at the phone after the call ended, and his brows furrowed. Helplessness and annoyance were
smeared all over his face.

He had transferred Shermaine somewhere else within the company, and it would be difficult for him to s
ee her anymore.

In his opinion, a capable and good employee
was just as good as any other hardworking employee. The company‘s policy was to promote capable a
nd hardworking employees, not firing them without a solid reason which had never happened before.

More importantly, there was nothing between Shermaine and him, yet the woman on
the other end of the phone refused to trust him.

He stood outside with a sulky expression for a while.

Sebastian walked up to him and asked in a small voice,” Sir, it‘s getting late. Why don‘t you go rest?”

The weather was unforgivingly cold, and Sebastian was freezing despite the layers of coats he had on.

Odell was dressed thinly, and if he continued standing outside, he would catch a cold.

Odell regained his composure and returned the phone to Sebastian. He strode into the house with a gr
umpy look. He refused to care anymore. If the woman decided to abandon him and the children and wa
nder somewhere else forever, she would not have to come back!

After Odell returned to his room, he took off his jacket

and angrily threw it on the floor. He washed up in the bathroom and went to bed alone.

The
next morning, before the sky turned bright, the silence in the bedroom was broken by a loud sneeze.

Achoo!

The man was woken by his own sneeze. What followed was dizziness and exhaustion.

He frowned as he got off the bed. He headed to the living room and
got some medicine from the first aid kit. He took some
medication with warm water, but the dizziness did not go away. Instead, he started to have a runny nos
e.

He pulled a piece of tissue and wiped his nose.

Sebastian and Aunt Tonya were up watching him.

Aunt Tonya asked, “Odell, did
you catch a cold? Why don‘t I call Dr. Lambert over?” “It‘s fine,” Odell answered with a heavy nasal voice
and he believed it was nothing serious.

Aunt Tonya and Sebastian exchanged a quick look but remained silent.

However, as soon as he set foot on the stairs, the dizziness assaulted
his sight and the room started to spin. His strength was robbed and his muscles started to sore.

He managed to return to the room, but the thought of

cleaning up faded. The dizziness made him want to stay in bed.

He collapsed on the bed and rested until knocks came from the door.

Aunt Tonya‘ called him from the door. “Odell, time for breakfast.”

Odell opened his eyes and answered gruffly, “I‘m not eating.”

Aunt Tonya heard the heavy nasal voice and frowned.” Okay.”

Odell woke up and grabbed his phone from the side to text Cliff. “I‘m not coming in today. Call me
if there is anything urgent.” Cliff texted back instantly, “Noted.”
