She was grinning as she stared at her phone display.

observing her for a while, he reached for a platter of fruit set on the table and took a slice of pineapple.
He brought it toward her lips.

Engrossed in conversation with Sylvia, Sherry instinctively opened her mouth when she sensed
something approaching. She only realized she had been given something to eat when the taste of
pineapple swarmed her taste buds.

It was as sweet as it was sour and was very delicious.

After she finished with the first slice, another slice seemed to materialize out of thin air in front of her.

Again, she devoured the slice that was magically brought to her lips, her attention still transfixed on her
phone’s display the entire time.

The same sequence was repeated several times. Every time she finished a slice, she would open her
mouth again with full confidence that another slice of pineapple would be presented to her.

The queer interaction lasted as long as her conversation with Sylvia on the phone.

Soon, Sylvia told Sherry that she had to leave to attend a parent-teacher meeting, so Sherry said
goodbye and wrapped up the conversation. She had just swallowed yet another piece of pineapple and
habitually. opened her mouth, expecting another piece.



A moment passed, then another. There was no pineapple this time.

She found it rather odd and finally looked away from her phone for the first time. She met John’s
sneering eyes staring at her.

He held a platter of fruit in his hand, and there were many slices of pineapples on the tray. Each slice
looked so fresh that it seemed like it had only been harvested only moments ago.

“Enjoying yourself?” he asked with a smile.

Sherry put down the phone and put her hand out “Gimme.”

It was delicious, and she simply could not get enough of it.

John took a slice of pineapple from the tray.

Sherry opened her mouth again, expecting him to deliver it into her mouth. Instead of giving it to her, he
threw the slice into his mouth, savoring its taste himself.

“It is pretty delicious,” he remarked with a smile.

She shot a look at him. “I want a slice.”

He did not oblige. Again, he took another slice for himself.

Sherry was growing restless by this point and flung herself at him.

John swiftly ducked backward from her frenzied charge and had the mind to slide the platter of fruit
onto the table in the middle of his maneuver

Sherry could not stop her forward momentum and plunged into him. She felt an arm wrapped around
her waist like a belt.



Before she could react, she felt a palm pressing on the back of her head, then her lips were flanked
with the soft texture of John’s lips.

He only gave her a light kiss before letting her free.

She hissed in an unfriendly voice, “You bastard, what’s your problem?”

John smiled charmingly and said, “Let’s get married.”

Sherry was taken aback by the suddenness of this. “Aren’t we already married?”

“We only got a marriage certificate. He gently brushed her cheeks and spoke with clarity in his voice, “I
want a proper wedding. I want to let the world know that we are husband and wife.”

His voice was gentle, and there was a fixed, tender glow in his. eyes

Sherry felt her nerves creeping up on her. Her mind acted against her and forcefully evoked the
memories of John’s past wedding with Shannon.

She knew that John had only done so to spite her at the time. However, the consequences were
